DiCaprio 'to produce anime film'
Leonardo DiCaprio is to produce a live-action version of anime classic Akira, according to Hollywood Reporter.
The 1988 Japanese film was considered to be a groundbreaking piece of animation, co-written and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo.
It is set in 2019 in post-nuclear war New Tokyo where a biker gains super powers after being subjected to experiments.
Warner Bros is aiming for a release in 2009, it is reported.
Unlike the original, the new movie will be set in New Manhattan, a city rebuilt with Japanese cash.

OHH Crap!! I can not even begin to imagine Neuromancer as a movie. They could never do it justice (I think.)
And yeah, I thought Torque sucked.
Ohh well. We shall see what happens with it. I guess on the one hand maybe it will give Gibson some additional awareness to people whom have never heard of him and increase his readership.... Of course if they fuck it up royally no one will be interested. Sad I guess. -

Fri, February 22, 2008 - 4:54 PMWell, to be honest, I actually enjoyed "Fast and the Furious" for its cartoonish, hypersexual style. The first big drag race actually has added anime-style speed blur.
But "Torque" was just dumb. Cycles racing on top of trains and shit like that. I'm all for over-the-top action, but at least make your physics LOOK believable, even if it's totally impossible. -

Been hearin about this since 2006. Bad idea then, bad idea now.
Its time to stop these Hollywood fucks from messing up ideas that don't need to be messed with.
Besides, that movie has already been made. It's called Blade Runner. ^_~ -
