"A man suffering from "locked in" syndrome, where a fully-conscious person is completely paralyzed except for some eyelid movements, is speaking again using a computer. Doctors report in Nature today that he's using a brain implant to control speech synthesizing software with his mind."

That is so bad-ass. I can't wait to see how it develops.

that's the first step, AND IT WORKS.

totally stunning, and it's being test driven on people who could not possibly deserve it more...

I know this is kind of random, but atom, and allen, I would forget about taking over the world, especially South America, and especially Brazil, and more especially, The Amazon. Just being random. So just disregard. :)

Another random comment...PLUR? U stood, stand, will always stand for U-236. Interested? :) P? Plutonium, of course. And, of course, there's something that's even greater and worse than plutonium, but you'll probbaly never know that. :)

So if the implant can create speech from brain impulses could it also be used to monitor and report on what you are saying to someone...talking about the ultimate wire tap.

One more thing why not just directly censor your speech…giving error messages to the listener like sorry could not interpret that please try again.

You remind me of this kid Christopher "Case". He seemed to have this identity crisis where he thought he was Erik Davis, for awhile, among others. Hopefully, you're not like that, Mitzo. Implants? They don't really create speech. Birds on a wire? Like Federal Wire Taps? They do listen in sometimes, as the Internet is technically a "wire", telephone line. So, wire fraud and the such could apply. Although, my friend of a friend whom we don't hang around much, naymore, and who doesn't want us to hang around him, any more. :) He would say something like, "I, me, M, is just "tickling the wire", being aware of a possible present wire tap, better safe than sorry, been possibly aware for awhile, and I'm just feeding it, the possible wire tap, false information, disinformation, disinfo, if you like, complete and utter bullshit, or as I might have said, "garbage in, garbage out"". terence, he was a narc, and once a narc, always a narc. How did he get out and live, paid for by the feds, the federales, pretty common knowledge, or so I thought it was. (tongue planted firmly in cheek). Don't be a narc, don't be a Terence McKenna. Er, excuse me Terence Kemp McKenna. It's a concept. Do you understand? If not, then you will never will, retard. :)

wow I feel so complete now thanks for your stirring words…hmm life as a narc I let you continue to entertain the concept. oh by the way which personality were you inhabiting at the time you wrote this I need to watch out for that one in the future.

more importantly, by the time we get the knack of brain implants, we'll probably have enough cheap computing and memory to go VR no problem.

which, of course, will also be monitorable...but, hey.
