If you think you can build a better Exoskeleton her is your chance to put that to the test...or at least watch others try.

The Exoskeleton event is called Tetsujin (Japanese for Iron Person) -

Re: Exoskeletons, life imitating art
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 4:53 PM"Tetsujin" is also what they call the Iron Chefs on the original Japanese show. ^_^
Don't forget, to build a proper Tetsuo outfit, you need to start with rocket-powered roller skates:

Re: Exoskeletons, life imitating art
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 6:24 PMActually, the full name of the show is "Ryori no Tetsujin" or Iron Man of Cooking (or "Cuisine").
Speaking of Tetsujins (somewhat getting back on topic), I was thinking about building slightly bigger "suits" for carrying heavier weaponry:
ex.
TA or "Tactical Armors"

Re: Exoskeletons, life imitating art
Tue, April 15, 2008 - 8:47 PMSince we're saying "actually" and being all smarty-pants, actually "jin" means "person," not "man."
Secondly, what I meant, was an individual chef would be called, for example, "Tetsujin Sakai."
The title, as you almost say, would be "Cuisine's Iron Person." ("no" is possessive.)
I'm cheating, though, since I have a translator at home -- my wife is Japanese. ^_^
I managed to forget most of what I learned in Japanese class. -

Re: Exoskeletons, life imitating art
Thu, April 17, 2008 - 8:26 PMoops you did say "jin" stands for "person".
so what's "iron man" ? -
-
Re: Exoskeletons, life imitating art
Thu, April 17, 2008 - 9:55 PMShe tells me you can say "Tetsuo" if "Iron Man" was somebody's proper name.
But the super hero "Iron Man," she says, would, as you say, be "Tetsujin."
The term "jin" means "person" or "human," so is basically gender neutral. You would never say "iron MAN" in Japanese, only "iron person" -- though the (sexist) assumption is often that the person spoken of is male. -

Re: Exoskeletons, life imitating art
Fri, April 18, 2008 - 2:38 PMAnd (as I'm sure Atom already knows) Astro Boy's Japanese name is "Tetsuwan Atomu" or "Mighty (literally 'Iron-Arm') Atom." -
